Business Development Manager for Emeritus Institute of Management

Founded in 2015, Emeritus Institute of Management is a global leader in delivering online non-degree offerings  in partnership with elite universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania, among others.  Emeritus now is developing customized product, technology, distribution, and support services for leading universities’ national and global offerings of online degree programs.  
 
Position:
We are looking for a driven, creative, proven professional to prospect, build relationships, and close agreements with universities for marketing, developing and delivering their online programs globally.   The strongest candidates will have business-to-business sales experience in education such as with online program management (OPM) companies, online platforms including MOOCs and/or ed-tech providers.    The position reports to the Emeritus head of the Americas.
 
Territory:  
We seek a high caliber talent that can be based anywhere in the United States.  We plan to hire several business development managers across the country, which may eventually be focused regionally in the West, Central and the East of the US.   
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and stay current on a target list of universities for understanding needs and opportunities for global online programs.
  • Approach and develop relationships with decision-makers in targeted universities to offer to develop and deliver these Emeritus online programs.
  • Work with the university’s leaders including the university’s academic, finance, procurement and other stakeholders to negotiate and finalize contracts.
  • Drive monthly, quarterly and annual objectives, track and communicate progress, and implement improvements.
  • Regularly manage Emeritus presence at key conferences, workshops and other forums where prospective decision-makers are present.   
  • Stay abreast of trends in US online education and share key updates / insights as input to current / future Emeritus program offerings and university agreements
  • Regular travel required, assuming 50%+ of time.

 
Qualifications:
 

  • 10+ years of sales account management.
  • Strong preference for experience in higher education, eLearning, and/or Ed-Tech verticals.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of exceptional results in new account development and revenue growth.
  • US operations are centered in Boston; remote candidates will be considered.
